The subject of reverse graffiti - cleaning the wall, street or surface as the image of message you want to promote - has been covered several times on this blog. Usually it's some artists that have used it as it is not a crime per say to "clean the streets".

Next step was to take it commercially and a Dutch firm called Green Graffiti have specialized in the art of cleaning the streets product-wise.

Here's an example from the US and Domino's where finders of the stencils could take a picture, send it to Domino's and get $15 voucher.

The new thing here is not the reverse graffiti angle but the engagement part. Do something actively and get rewarded.

Here's a good example on how to keep customers in the buying and loyalty loop.

Yesterday I browsed Oki-ni.com for some threads. I added a few items to my basket but left before ordering. The reasons can be many, but anywho I left.

This morning I received a mail from Oki-ni (see picture) about the items I added to my basket. I know it's a fully automated mail asking about the possible reasons for leaving. However I got the sense that they really cared about me. What if a technical error was the reason I left, they now offer me assistance.

Being the clever guys at Oki-Ni they did not forget to mention the sale that's going on at the moment - just another argument for me to buy the stuff in my basket...

Result: I'll head back to Oki-Ni, view my basket, consider buying again, browse the site and all the while feeling they really care about me and the buying experience I'm having.

I'm truly amazed by innovative people and how they see opportunities where other don't. Following the hype and big-buzzed Twitter there's daily popping up new services that harness the concept of twitter.

Point in case: Tweetbucks. When you only have 140 characters to make you point, you use short urls to have more room for text. Tweetbucks helps you earn $ when ever using a short url. Make a short url thru them and they ad-frame your link. User clicks on ad and/or buys product = you get a kick-back..

Only concern I have with this concept is if this idea goes against the whole point of twitter? I mean, you have something to say and you cover it in ads? On the other hand if my followers are in the target group of my post about motorcycles (as i am) why not promote motorcycles products that might be of interest to the target group?

I've read several places that the very high-end of the luxury marked wasn't affected by the current global financial crisis. Well, i guess Bulgari either don't belong to that segment or the expert are dead wrong.

"ROME -- Italian luxury jeweler Bulgari SpA Wednesday reported an 89% drop in fourth-quarter net profit, cut its dividend by 69%, and said that it plans to offset the negative effects of the economic crisis by closing nonperforming stores and limiting hedging effects in the months ahead."

89% drop!?!...SCARY STUFF!..It goes to show that this beast is so big that no one really knows how to handle it or propose a way out..

A good extract here:

If you do nothing else this week do this: Pull your customer records for the past three years. Sort sales by customer in order of total annual value. Identify your top 20% by volume. Now, find the ones with a) average or above average profit; b) receivables at 60 days or less; c) orders in the pipeline for the next 3 months.

Now you have a list of Ideal Customers. Write to each of them to tell them how much you appreciate their business. Reassure them that you are committed to maintaining the high level of service they are accustomed to. Ask for a personal meeting with you or your sales team to discuss their needs. Remember, they are hurting too—be prepared to offer them something of value that will help them keep their Ideal Customers.
